AHAA Events

For the last number of years, the All Hallows Area Association has focused on developing a series of community events through which we could engage with and bring our communities together.  Below is a summary of some of those events. Unfortunately, due to the global Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2022 we were are unable to run events, but we're delighted to be in a position to again in 2023 and look forward to doing more in the future.

Griffith Avenue Mile 2022

After a two year hiatus due to Covid-19, The Griffith Avenue Mile made a big and very welcome return on Sunday September 18th 2022. The event was even bigger and better in all respects than the 2019 event. You can read a summary of the event on the Griffith Avenue Mile website here.

Culture Night 2019

Friday, 20th September 2019
Dominican College, Griffith Avenue

We held a very successful Theatre event for Culture Night in September. Two plays were performed in Dominican College and we were absolutely delighted to have such a large number of members attending the event. Both Fionn Foley and Peter Sheridan fully deserved the standing ovations they received for their respective performances and the committee was delighted at the success of the night.

Griffith Avenue Mile 2019

Sunday, September 22nd 2019
It gives us great pleasure and pride to look back on the Griffith Avenue Mile 2019, a community event that surpassed all expectations. 1,000 participants from across the athletics and local communities took part in the first Griffith Avenue Mile event to be held in nearly 36 years. Hundreds more turned out to line the avenue in support of those taking part. A snapshot of the colour and fun of the day can be seen in this video. Please also check out and follow our Twitter channel and in particular, our YouTube channel for a wonderful look back on the day.

Summer Community Event 2019

Sunday, 25th August 2019
Dominican College Grounds, Griffith Avenue

We originally planned to have the event at the end of June but due to an adverse weather forecast had to postpone. This decision proved to be a good one as we had great weather on the rescheduled day. There was a fantastic turn out of residents (and their friends and family) and all enjoyed a selection of bouncy castles, magic show, face painting, candy floss, a variety of races for young and old, cakes and refreshments.

Culture Night 2018

Friday, 21st September 2018
Dominican College, Griffith Avenue

It was wonderful to see such a great crowd coming together from across our area to celebrate Culture Night with AHAA in September, the events were a great success. We had theatrical performances in the school hall, and we are indebted to Ailbhe Cowley and Peter Sheridan who performed on the night.

In addition to the shows, Brian Freeman gave a fascinating historical talk in Drumcondra Church.

Summer Community Event 2018

Sunday, 24th June 2018
Dominican College Grounds, Griffith Avenue

Another great success, and it was fantastic to have so many attractions there on the day, from bouncy castles to Wooly Wards Farm to music classes with Tempo Music School, Drumcondra. Giggles the Clown has to get a special mention as he was absolutely fantastic. How he managed to keep going wearing the heavy wig and costume on one of the hottest days of the year shows what an incredible professional he is. He kept many entertained for the full duration of the event and ended up compèring the raffle to finish. It was a great event for all members of our community, and we were delighted with the huge turnout on the day.

Summer Community Event 2017

Sunday, 30th July 2017
Dominican College Grounds, Griffith Avenue

For our second Community Event we made some small adjustments to try to improve on what was a great success the year before. We swapped the inflatables to Bouncy Castles which was very popular decision with the younger ones and kept our committee busy overseeing them! A great day was had by all however we did have a few showers which interrupted our magic show so much, it had to be moved indoors. It is Ireland after all!

Summer Community Event 2016

Sunday, 31st July 2016
Dominican College Grounds, Griffith Avenue

The first summer Community Event held by the Association. It was a great success and gave us the belief that we should run this event every year. We were lucky with the weather but much effort was put in to making the day as entertaining as possible for all ages. We had a magician, candy floss and popcorn stands and face painting. There was great participation in the running races and novelty races which led to loads of fun and medals for many. We had tea & coffee and biscuits for all and goodie bags for the younger members of our community. It was a day of great satisfaction for our Association to see our community come together like this as ‘community spirit’ projects are a major part of our work plan.
